IPL 2020 being cancelled?


COVID-19 pandemic is making things tough

IPL 2020, the much anticipated and discussed tournament, is scheduled to be held in UAE. It is to kick-off from 19th September. However, it is making headlines way before its start.

 

 

While Cricket fans are still recovering from the damage done by MSD’s retirement, news are coming of probability of shelving the IPL. This can be really annoying for those who want to see Dhoni and Raina play again.

 

 

Recently, 10 CSK members were tested COVID positive. Among those 10, a fast bowler was also included who has reportedly represented the Indian national team in the recent past. His identity is not revealed due to security reasons.

The infection of IPL participants in such big numbers can be dangerous for its smooth conduct. To add more to this, CSK vice=captain Suresh Raina announced on 29th August that he’s opting out from the tournament due to some personal reasons.

Notably, Raina, alongwith Dhoni, announced retirement from International Cricket on 15th August this year. And now, his opting out from IPL comes as icing on the cake.


CSK, one of the most popular and the most successful franchise of the IPL, is facing most number of hurdles. If CSK is unable to make it to the tournament, it is possible that the entire 2020 season can be called-off.

Not just CSK, other franchises are also facing issues regarding norms imposed by the UAE for entering its bio-secure bubble.

So, it is not a piece of cake to carry out the tournament securely and smoothily.

 

 

As of now, all the teams have reached UAE with most of the team members. Also, almost of them have started practice sessions. On one side, preparations are going on with high spirits, while on the other side, COVID is posing threat for the carrying out of the tournament.

 

 

Fans and managements are all hoping that the IPLL kicks-off and goes on securely and without any obstacles. However, at this moment, there are many threats o the prestigious tournament.

 

 

Will IPL 2020 get cancelled?
